Every year, a house is selected as the San Francisco designer showcase house. It is transformed by designers to raise money for charity. Our concept this year envisioned draping the house in a fabric that represents a part of San Francisco that designers typically don’t explore in their work.
In a city that has the highest concentration of billionaires in the world, and is often the source of innovation that impacts the world, the unhoused are a visible part of life in the city.
So we asked ourselves; what would it look like if we draped the showcase house in a patchwork fabric made from the tents of the unhoused, taken from the city’s stockpile, gathered during street clearances?
